I use 3 weights of crepe paper in this course depending on the pansy I'm making. Some pansies are made from Italian 60g, some from Italian 90g, and some using German doublette/double-sided crepe paper. The Italian 60g and German doublette/double-sided can be used interchangeable (use one or the other), but the Italian 90g cannot be substituted (if you choose to make one of the pansies in that paper). You can purchase the Italian crepe paper online at Cartotecnica Rossi (Italy), Carte Fini (US), or Crepe Paper Crafts (Canada). You can purchase the German crepe paper online at The Paper Place (Canada), Rose Mille (USA) or Paper and Pearls Design (USA). I also use 26 gauge stem wires (you can substitute with 24 or 28 gauge) that are paper wrapped which can be purchased at floral supply wholesalers, baking/cake supply stores or online. Look for Japanese brands Ateco or Sunrise. Different pansies require different colouring mediums, so I use a mix of watercolour brushes, watercolour inks, and Pan Pastels. For pansies made with Italian 90g crepe paper, I use Copic markers. Acrylic paint in white and yellow will be useful. All of these mediums be easily purchased from art or craft stores, online, or you likely have them at home. For most supplies, I provide direct links to where you can buy them inside the course.
This course is available on Friday May 17, 2024 and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.
The short answer - Forever. The long answer - You’ll have access to the course videos and content forever as long as Crafted to Bloom exists, even if the online course platform changes.
If you follow my construction directions, it takes about an hour or so to construct a pansy - that is, from reinforcing the paper to shaping to attaching the calyx, and anywhere between a half hour to an hour (if you're the careful type) for colouring. I provide step-by-step instructions and demonstrations on how to make certain pansies which makes painting a breeze. All of the lessons are bit-sized, concise, and easy to digest. You won't sit through hours and hours of videos of me demonstrating one technique over and over again. I time lapse a lot of the redundant steps and show you the results. Feel free to watch the videos without following along, and then once you have a chunk of time, go back and follow through. You can watch and re-watch any or all of the video lesson at your convenience.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of digital products, I cannot offer a refund. That said, I just know that you'll learn something! I design every one of my flower online course so that I can share new and fresh techniques with you. I hate repeating myself.
I recommend this course if you already have some experience with paper flower making. The construction of the pansy is straightforward, however, some of the petals can be on the smaller side, so it requires some dexterity in your hands and fingers for assembly. In addition, having some experience with painting will help you pick up the techniques more quickly. I also use various colouring mediums so you will have to be willing to invest in some of these to be successful in this course.
Absolutely. We can all benefit from learning from other artists. I love sharing my colouring processes and philosophies as I believe it's the aesthetic that sets me apart from other artists.
Yes, you’re welcome to make my pansies and sell them. However, I encourage you to make it your own by making a few changes to the template and to the overall "look" of the pansy. Also, if someone, like a customer, asks you how you learned to make the pansy, I ask that you acknowledge that you learned some of the techniques from me and give credit where it is due. Thank you!
If you know someone who would like to learn how to make this paper pansy, I would ask you to encourage them to sign up for this course. Please do not share your student email and password with third parties. You paid for access to this course, and so should they. I’ve put in a lot of effort to designing this course and the intellectual property connected to this course, the materials, and the techniques are mine. Similarly, you are absolutely not permitted to teach this paper pansy for monetary gain without expressed written permission from me. If you are interested in re-teaching this paper flower I do offer licensing options. Read more about this in the Terms & Conditions page: https://www.craftedtobloom.com/terms-and-conditions
