A natural companion for your florals

BUTTERFLIES THAT FLUTTER TO YOUR TUNE

After making so many paper flowers, I decided it was time to create a companion for them. For this Monarch Butterfly, I strived to make it as delicate and realistic as I could and I finally nailed it with this particular design. Perched on a flower or on your finger, this Monarch Butterfly has wings that are semi-transparent and can be opened and closed - just like the real thing. Its furry body is attached to six long legs that support its body in various positions, and the tiny dotted details on the head give it a distinctive look. Let me teach you how to make this Monarch Butterfly and how to make your own butterfly template in this one-of-a-kind online course.

Thank you Jessie! You have outdone yourself in this comprehensive tutorial on making a botanically correct Monarch butterfly! The details that you have shared from concept to execution are extensive. The Procreate section was so helpful to me. I have been a casual Procreate user but your training has given me a lot of confidence to try more artistic ideas in that tool. I am thrilled with the butterfly I made, actually, I have made two! I am sure I will make many more of different species. My head is spinning! I've got so many ideas of how to create more flora and fauna using your techniques! If you are someone thinking about taking this course - I can't emphasize enough the substantial content and detailed skills you will learn!

This is my first course made by Jessie Chui. I have been wanted to learn to make butterflies for a while. They will be the perfect companion to my paper flowers. I like the learning about how you have make a huge amount of learning about the monarch before you made this course. There are no shortwaves to make a perfect butterfly! I will use that when I am making future butterflies. Like that there is a possibility to learn how to transfer the butterfly to paper. I am doing it by hand. About coloring the butterfly it is really helpful to already having the pencils myself. The coloring is really deep learning and helpful. I have been drawing many years so that was lucky for me. I also know about color theory. In my opinion it might be difficult for a newbie and overwhelming to color for the first time. But you really do your best to tell all the tips of coloring the butterfly wings and body. About the materials I learned that there can be a huge different in the recommended papers weight. That can make it difficult to clue the butterfly wings together - so I use a paper as close to the one you recommend. I can not get the paper you used. In Denmark I could not get the wire 33gauge, so my wire is a little bigger - but I got a good success with a bigger gauge than yours. About gluing the wires to the wings was quite tricky - I got bigger hands than yours. Overall I thing it is an amazing course and your teaching skills are the best. The videos are very detailed and you do an awesome work with the course. I think the course is for someone that are familiar to coloring and paperwork. It is not for beginners. To me it was personally a wonderful course and I learnt so many skills on the way. Thank you Jessie Chui for making it possible for me to learn more about paper butterflies. So glad I purchased it and now that I've watched it all, I can gather my tools and materials and start creating. What a perfect botanical replica of a Monarch Butterfly, nothing like this one exists out there! Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this course. As always, Jessie's videos are thorough and easy to follow. The wire details were tedious to do but definitely doable. I was a little scared to try this course but once I got into it I realized I could do it. I did not design my own templates because I do not have design software but I feel confident I could adapt the monarch templates to other butterflies.

LET ME SHOW YOU HOW TO TURN A FLAT SHEET OF PAPER INTO A THREE-DIMENSIONAL MASTERPIECE!

FAQ

  • What type of tools & materials do you use in this course?

I mainly use two types of paper: tracing paper and White crepe paper, which you can purchase online at various suppliers or at your local art store. My favourite suppliers are listed in the Toolbox section. I also use 33 gauge stem wires which can be purchased at floral supply wholesalers, baking/cake supply stores and even big box stores like Michaels and Joanns. Everything else can be easily purchased from art or craft stores, online, or you likely have them at home. For most materials, I provide direct links to where you can buy them inside the course.

  • When does the course start and finish?

This course starts on Friday April 14, 2023 and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.

  • How long do I have access to the course?

The short answer - Forever. The long answer - You’ll have access to the course videos and content forever as long as Crafted to Bloom exists, even if the online course platform changes.

  • Do you offer any refunds or guarantees?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of digital products, I cannot offer a refund. That said, I just know that you'll learn something! I design every one of my flower online course so that I can share new and fresh techniques with you. I hate repeating myself.

  • I’ve never tried making paper butterflies. Is this for me?

Before I made this butterfly, I also had never tried making paper butterflies before! This is why I've designed this course so that you go through the entire creative process that I went through - from designing the template to using the template and then executing! My step-by-step instructions make it a breeze to follow. I have included 2 pre-made Monarch Butterfly templates for you to use if you choose to skip the template design sections. Start with the larger template first or challenge yourself with the smaller template.

  • I've made paper butterflies before. Would I still benefit from this course?

Absolutely! I bet you your butterfly doesn't look like mine. I think you'll find it invaluable to see how I got from a flat sheet of paper to a full butterfly sculpture. Challenge yourself and see how small you can make your butterfly!

  • Can I sell the paper butterfly I make from this online course?

Yes, you’re welcome to make this butterfly and sell it. However, I encourage you to make it your own by making a few changes to the template and to the overall "look" of the butterfly. Also, if someone, like a customer, asks you how you learned to make the butterfly, I ask that you acknowledge that you learned it from me and give credit where it is due.

  • Can I teach this butterfly or the process of making the template and designing it to other people?

If you know someone who would like to learn how to make this paper butterfly, I would ask you to encourage them to sign up for this course. Please do not share the access information with third parties. You paid for access to it, and so should they. I’ve put in a lot of effort to designing this course and the intellectual property connected to this course, the materials, and the techniques are mine. Similarly, you are absolutely not permitted to teach this paper butterfly for monetary gain without expressed written permission from me. If you are interested in re-teaching this course I do offer licensing options. Read more about this in the Terms & Conditions page: https://www.craftedtobloom.com/terms-and-conditions
